Australia Europe China

If you choose Australia, you will study the country’s amazing transformation from a once remote, agrarian and industrial society to the sophisticated and international business force it is today. You will discover the roles that regional development, globalization and business relocation have played in achieving 17 consecutive years of economic growth.

In the urban cosmopolitan city of Melbourne, you will examine the economic forces and innovative public and private sector efforts driving the country’s monumental progress with government and business representatives.

You will confer with representatives from the United States Consulate to explore how the United States is fostering free trade in Australia, building international goodwill and opening doors for U.S. businesses in the promising Pacific Rim region.

You will probe the perils and promises of free enterprise with pioneering women business leaders. During dinner with professors and students from local Australian universities, you will engage in a lively dialogue about business education in Australia and the United States. Representatives from major businesses will share with you how Australians are developing new products, analyzing demographics, tracking trends and creating effective marketing strategies.

During free time, you will revel in the breathtaking culture and history of this untamed jewel of the South Pacific through independent exploration of Australia’s renowned cultural attractions, including the Taronga Zoo, Sydney Aquarium and Royal Botanic Gardens.

In sparkling Sydney Harbour, you will be treated to a harbour cruise, which will enable you to see the stunning Sydney Opera House up close. Later you will wander through The Rocks precinct, Australia’s first European settlement.

You may choose to extend your Australian adventure with the optional three-day add-on, offering you the chance to travel to Cairns in the tropical north and explore the untamed and lush landscape of Queensland’s rain forests, as well as sail to and swim over the awe-inspiring marine sanctuary of the Great Barrier Reef. You will also uncover Australia’s roots with a visit to an aboriginal cultural park.

If you choose Central & Eastern Europe, you will venture into the heart of “New Europe” – Budapest, Prague and Vienna for nine days of study and exploration.

In Budapest, a significant player in Central & Eastern European economic and political history, you will deepen your understanding of the global business issues transforming the world economy. You will discuss with international business representatives the challenges facing global companies, such as advertising, joint ventures and product development. In the fast-emerging new markets of post communist Europe, you will explore how each of these issues is dramatically impacting American interests.

In the city’s historic business center, you will gain a deep appreciation for the complex relationship between government and business through a very special networking and business lunch with distinguished representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Your visit to Prague, the Czech Republic’s bustling commercial capital, will enable you to examine trade issues in product expansion and brand preservation in the heart of the European Union. You will explore how the Czech Republic’s most recognized brands are striving to increase sales and revenue while maintaining the quality of their products in today’s global marketplace.

In Vienna, you will join European business students and professors at the IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, to discover the striking similarities and dynamic differences in the preparation of future business leaders on both sides of the Atlantic.

You will probe the strategic importance and political power of
petroleum by exploring the delicate balance between natural resources and economic needs with top officials at the headquarters of OPEC, the
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

You can also take advantage of the optional three-day add-on, where you will discover and explore the historic cities of Munich, Germany and Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna, Austria! Your adventure includes a spectacular visit high in the Alps, and the option of taking a summer bobsled ride at speeds of up to 60 MPH down the full track used in the 1972 winter Olympic games!

If you choose China, you begin your adventure in Beijing, China’s beautiful capital and political and cultural center. You will meet privately with one of China’s premier sports marketing firms and get a look at their marketing campaigns in the wake of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Through an executive briefing planned by the American Chamber of Commerce, you will learn the differences between Chinese and American business protocols and practices and prepare for what lies ahead for China’s business and trade development with our nation.

You will also explore Beijing’s ancient treasures, including the imposing Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and historic Tian’anmen Square. At the end of the day, you will sample famed authentic Chinese cuisine at China’s premier Peking Duck restaurant.

In the city of Hangzhou, one of China’s seven ancient capitals, you will view firsthand the management and daily function of large-scale Chinese and international enterprises leading the way in the business and technology fields, as well as network on an individual basis with Chinese business and technology students at one of Hangzhou’s premier universities.

You will be able to explore the Ling Yin, or Temple of the Soul’s Retreat, archaeological site filled with ancient stone carvings that remain in the surrounding caves and grottos of Feilai Feng. Dating back to A.D. 317, this site is one of China’s historic and cultural treasures and is the oldest functioning Buddhist temple in the country.

You will then travel to the 4,000-year-old metropolis of Shanghai, the center of international business and finance in China. Currency of every denomination is pouring in as investment opportunities rise and one billion new customers await. What they will buy, how money is managed and what tomorrow’s China will look like tantalizes the imagination of the global business world. You will have a front-row seat as this high-stakes drama plays out.

You will explore China’s thriving business culture as you meet with international business representatives and consultants to understand how entrepreneurship, strategic manufacturing, finance and marketing are utilized as methods of courting foreign participation.

An optional three-day add-on will enable you to wrap up your Far East adventure with an incredible exploration of Hong Kong, the “pearl of the orient.” You will discover Hong Kong harbor and its islands, towering Victoria Peak offering a spectacular 1,800 foot high overview of the city, an evening cultural performance and Bauhinia dinner cruise before your return home.
